About the Brother KH260

The KH260 is Brother’s bulky-gauge machine designed for thicker yarns and quick progress. It is a punchcard model, so you can knit textures and simple motifs without electronics. Pair it with the KR260 ribber to add true rib fabrics, double bed jacquard, and polished edges. Whether you are exploring your first bulky or upgrading from a standard gauge, the KH260 offers a solid blend of capability and reliability.

Master the Machine

Want a guided path from first swatch to real projects? Our step-by-step Brother KH/KR-260 Quick Start walks you through setup, needle selection, cast-ons, consistent tension, and patterning practice.

  • Get comfortable with carriage handling and stitch formation
  • Practice swatches that build muscle memory
  • Move from flat fabric to textures and practical edges

Comfort with the carriage is the foundation. The Quick Start gives you clear, repeatable practice.

Original Brother punchcards offer ready-to-use textures and motifs. Try them as-is, then customize repeats.

The Original Stitch Pattern Punchcards

The KH260’s punchcard system opens the door to tuck textures, slip patterns, and simple motifs. Start with the original Brother cards to see how the machine behaves with your yarn and gauge. Once you have a feel for it, you can repeat, mirror, or combine designs for fresh results.

Practical tip: swatch each pattern with the yarn you plan to use and note row counts and any carriage settings that produce the cleanest fabric.

Excited to start this course, as I have a 260 model with a KnitLeader. Of note, I have found that the Staedtler brand Lumocolor non-permanent pens work great on the mylar sheet. These pens come in a pack of four colors (read, blue, green & black)and easily wash off with water.
